Scott is a 2 x Olympic biathlete and coach for Biathlon Canada.
In 2016, at the IBU World Championships, Scott Gow and his teammates, including his brother Christian, Nathan Smith, and Brendan Green, won Canada’s first men’s relay medal in biathlon. The near perfect execution of the race by all members earned them the historic bronze medal in the 4×7.5 km relay.
Winning this medal with his brother was a special moment in Scott’s career. He had thought about quitting biathlon to go back to university, especially after not making it to the Sochi 2014 Olympics. But with support from family and friends, he decided to keep going and aim for the Olympics again. At the PyeongChang 2018 Olympics, he did well, finishing 14th in the 20km individual event, the best among the Canadians.
Scott also competed in the Beijing 2022 Olympics, where he came fifth in the 20km individual event. This was one of the best results ever for a Canadian in men’s biathlon at the Olympics. It was also one of the best results in Scott’s career. He was also part of the men’s relay team that came sixth, another great result for Canada.
Since retiring in 2021-22, Scott is studying for a Kinesiology degree at the University of Calgary. He’s also coaching biathlon in Calgary/Canmore. Scott is the first coach for the Nordic Ski Lab Technique and Training Program, helping to develop the program.
