FAQS

Do payments auto-renew?

Yes, both annual and monthly Training Club memberships auto-renew. We send 2 reminder emails prior to the annual renewal.

How do I cancel and what happens?

You can cancel anytime from your Account Page. It’s easy! Please do it yourself.

You will continue to have access to all your membership materials and your training plan until your membership expires. When your membership expires all future workouts on your plan will disappear, but your past workouts will remain.

What is the refund policy for the Training Club?

If you’re unsure about committing, we recommend the monthly option for flexibility.

MONTHLY MEMBERSHIP

  • No refunds.

ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP

  • Refund within 2 weeks, minus a $75 admin fee.

Does Training Club include access to all Basic Membership videos?

Yes.

I already have a “Basic” Nordic Ski Lab Membership. Can I get a refund if I join the Training Club?

If you joined Basic within the last 30 days, email us for a refund. Otherwise, there are no refunds as the per-month cost is nominal and transaction fees are high.

Can I pause my membership?

Sorry, but no.

Are there team discounts?

Sorry, but no.

I already pay for a TrainingPeaks Premium subscription. Can I get a credit?

Unfortunately no, but as soon as your current subscription expires we will take over payments for as long as you are a Training Club member.

I only want [the training plan], or [the technique instruction]. Can I pay less?

Visit the Pricing Page for options to purchase training plans or technique instruction separately.

Am I healthy enough to train?

The Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire for Everyone ( PAR-Q form) is a great tool to assess your readiness. If you have concerns, consult your doctor before starting.

What is TrainingPeaks and do I have to use it?

TrainingPeaks is an app widely used by endurance athletes to manage training and track progress. Using TrainingPeaks is the only way to get our plans.

  • This is where your training plan is delivered and where you log workouts.
  • A Training Club membership includes a TrainingPeaks Premium subscription.

Do I need a heart rate monitor?

A heart rate monitor is recommended but not required. TrainingPeaks supports all major brands, including Garmin, Suunto, Apple Watch, and Fitbit.

What equipment do I need?

  • Strength workouts require some gym equipment, which is listed in each workout. Examples are bands, small weights, benches or chairs, a TRX. You can swap out exercises if needed.
  • An internet connection is required to stream videos.
  • If using the TrainingPeaks app on your phone, you don’t need internet to view workouts.

Is there an Annual Training Plan and can I see it?

Yes, but it’s proprietary and not available to the public. The monthly plans are based on an optimized annual structure for cross-country skiers.

Who is this plan for?

Masters-level skiers of all fitness levels who want structured training and technique instruction. Whether you race or not, this program is designed to help you improve.

How does the Training Club compare with One-on-One Personal Coaching?

The Training Club offers many of the benefits of personal coaching but is not a direct substitute for one-on-one coaching.

  • Guidance & Support – We help you get started with onboarding calls and provide ongoing support via the forum, email, and SOS calls. However, SOS calls are for occasional help, not regular one-on-one coaching sessions.
  • Training Plan Oversight – A personal coach would monitor and adjust your training plan. In the Training Club, we can review your plan upon request, but we do not oversee it on an ongoing basis.
  • Accountability – Personal coaching includes close monitoring, with a coach checking in if you miss training. In the Training Club, we provide accountability tools like weekly emails and a Training Diary, but staying on track is ultimately up to you. If you need extra motivation, you can always schedule an SOS call.

With one-on-one coaching, your coach manages your training. In the Training Club, we give you the tools, structure, and support to manage it yourself—along with expert guidance when you need it.

How do I get help from a coach?

You get help when you need it through these key channels:

  • @CoachName on the forum – preferred
  • Email
  • SOS Calls – Short, on-demand calls for quick help with training or technique issues. Not a substitute for personal coaching.

What are Onboarding Calls?

Onboarding calls help you get started with the Training Club. Your coach will help you with TrainingPeaks, the training plan and show you all the available resources.

  • Monthly Members: One 30-minute onboarding call.
  • Annual Members: One 30-minute onboarding call plus a follow-up call one month later.

How does the Training Diary work?

You start and maintain your own Training Diary in the Community Forum.

  • It’s an optional but highly effective accountability tool.
  • Keep track of workouts, reflect on progress, and engage with other members.
  • Coaches check in on diaries, but can’t read them all, so you will tag @CoachName when you need a reply.

What are Accountability Emails?

Every week, you’ll receive a Sunday Accountability email full of skiing tips, advice, and inspiration to keep you motivated and on track.

How does technique feedback work?

  • Training Club members have the option to submit ski videos for private technique feedback.
  • A coach will send you a video with your feedback.

Are there live coaching seminars?

Yes, but note the seasonal nature of the program:

  • Live coaching seminars run monthly, except during summer (June–August).
  • Year-round coaching support is available, but ski technique instruction is less emphasized in summer.

Is this program only for serious racers? Do I have to race?

Racing is optional, and the plan is fully adaptable to your goals. Train as much or as little as you like.

About Race Peaking

The Training Club plan is optimized for the American Birkie and one other key race, decided in September.

Training consistently will keep you race ready through the ski season. We also include supplemental race peaking plans (2 weeks for a key race and 3 days for other races) that you can swap into your plan as needed. We can help you with this, if you have any questions.

Can we meet in real life?

We plan to be at the 2025 S2S race in British Columbia and will organize meetups for club members. At this time, we don’t host our own on-snow events.

Does this program work for teams?

While designed for individuals, buddies or small teams can self-organize and follow the plan together. The key benefits:

  • Everyone has the same structured plan.
  • Teammates can provide feedback and keep each other accountable.
  • Less time is wasted discussing workouts—more time is spent skiing.

Can I use the training plan for a masters’ ski group that I coach?

No, the plan is not licensed for coaches to use with their own athletes. However, you can join as an athlete, follow the plan for your own training, and apply what you learn to your group.
